Summary of Position:    The Digital Content Manager develops and executes Indiana Wesleyan University’s (IWU) comprehensive social media and digital content strategy, with a primary focus on driving enrollment and social media growth and engagement. This position is part of the Communications team within the Marketing department and reports to the Director of Communications.
The Digital Content Manager builds brand awareness, collaborates frequently with teams across Marketing and the broader campus community, generates inbound traffic, and supports enrollment and alumni engagement through compelling, platform-specific storytelling and clear calls to action. The role ensures consistent messaging across all digital channels and cultivates a strong social media referral and alumni network for IWU.
Additionally, this role provides writing and editorial support for broader marketing communications, including blogs, articles, promotional copy, and video/radio scripts. The ideal candidate is a versatile, skilled communicator capable of handling writing assignments across multiple formats and audiences.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, executes, and assesses IWU’s social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across IWU to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging adoption of relevant social media technologies
  • Collaborates with Design, Communication, and Media Teams to develop and implement social media marketing campaigns across multiple outlets that support broader institutional priorities
  • Manages IWU’s presence on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and others, and seeds content into social applications as needed
  • Oversees owned social media content, campaigns, and day-to-day activity for IWU-Marion, Wesley Seminary and IWU-National & Global
  • Engages with prospective students and interested parties by responding to comments, answering direct messages, and routing inquiries to the appropriate department
  • Advocates for IWU in social media and online communities, engaging in dialogue and answering questions where appropriate
  • Researches and monitors emerging social media tools and trends to ensure IWU remains competitive and relevant in the digital space
  • Establishes benchmarks and KPIs to evaluate the impact of social media campaigns, analyzing and reporting performance to maximize results
  • Shares insights and feedback from social media monitoring with the Communication Team Lead to refine strategies
  • Networks with social media representatives across the university to encourage collaborative communication and establish processes for creating engaging, on-brand content
  • Coordinates with external digital agency to develop social media strategies and campaigns
  • Supports broader writing needs including blogs, news articles, scripts, digital copy, and occasional long-form or editorial pieces to reinforce storytelling and campaign goals
  • Focuses on driving organic enrollment growth by increasing reach, engagement, and follower development through consistent, high-quality content and platform optimization
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, public relations, communications, writing, English or a related discipline

Experience

  • Experience managing social media initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and user behaviors (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and their marketing applications.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, including familiarity with grammar, style guides, and SEO principles.
  • Effective storyteller with the ability to convey an organization’s voice and leverage narrative strategy.
  • Excellent project management, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of the University.
  • Ability to monitor media channels remotely and after hours.
