The Opportunity

As a Data Collector with the Heat Care Project at the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), you will play a vital role in a pioneering, Wellcome Trust-funded initiative addressing the growing health risks of rising temperatures in Southeast Asia. Based in Segamat, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to impactful, community-driven research that aims to enhance heat resilience among vulnerable populations.

In this role, you will be actively engaged in conducting high-quality, community-based data collection through household surveys, phone interviews, and other field methods. You will also support the coordination of project activities, ensuring accurate documentation, timely reporting, and efficient logistical operations. Working closely under the guidance of the Senior Technical Officer, you will be part of a collaborative field team committed to delivering reliable data that informs evidence-based interventions.

What makes this opportunity particularly rewarding is the chance to work at the intersection of public health, climate change, and community engagement. You will interact directly with diverse communities, helping to improve heat health literacy while contributing to research that drives meaningful policy and behavioural change. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in field-based environments, enjoy engaging with people, and are motivated to contribute to research with real-world impact.

By joining this project, you will gain valuable experience in data collection, stakeholder engagement, and applied research within a globally recognised university, while being surrounded by a supportive and purpose-driven team.
