As the senior infrastructure specialist, you will ensure that the network is up and available during scheduled operational hours and quickly resolve issues when the network is not available. This position is explicitly involved with data communications, telecommunications, and network infrastructure — including network cabling. In this position, you are responsible for multiple portions of the campus network including networking equipment, campus wiring, and resolving complex technical problems based on knowledge and experience.  

In this position, you will manage the daily operations of the Network Administration group, monitoring network equipment and communications, maintenance contracts, and serving as the technical backup in network administration. Your responsibilities will include ensuring security procedures and policies are implemented and enforced, responding to questions and needs of network users, and updating operating systems and software. Additionally, you will be responsible for backing up data, providing direction to other specialists, monitoring the campus network, and acting as essential personnel in cases of emergency.    

 Minimum Qualifications:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience 

  • At least four years of experience in microcomputing in a LAN environment with extensive knowledge of and certification in TCP/IP routing and ethernet switching 

  • Understanding concepts involved in large-scale networking 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Ability to handle highly confidential material discretely and confidently 

Licenses, Certificates, and Registrations: 

  • Valid driver’s license  

Travel Required:  

  • 20% to 40% 

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
