Position Summary

The campus safety operations specialist will utilize various campus safety software applications and closed circuit television systems to proactively detect and deter criminal activity. The person in this role will direct and dispatch university safety patrol officers to areas of concerns and calls for service.

This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.

This position works a 12 hour shift
Day Shift: 6am - 6pm
Night Shift: 6pm - 6am

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Monitor extensive CCTV system focusing on campus facilities and grounds. Monitor intrusion alarms. - (Essential)
  • Retrieve camera footage for use in court testimony. Testify in criminal proceedings when necessary. - (Essential)
  • Utilize various campus safety software applications. Utilize basic crime analysis software to assist in the deployment of field personnel. Direct field personnel to areas of concern. - (Essential)
  • Dispatch campus safety units to calls for service. - (Essential)
  • Manage campus transportation requests. - (Essential)
  • Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma. One to two years of experience in a public safety or military command or dispatch center preferred. Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts. Valid Driver's license required.

Certificates, licenses and registrations: valid driver's license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
