As a university safety operations manager, you will provide leadership and direction in all areas of security, including loss control, best practices, programs, strategic planning, and campus-wide collaborations. You will work with university administration, departments, and external groups to effectively resolve security issues. Responsibilities include the establishment and implementation of short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, standards, and operating procedures. You will monitor and evaluate effectiveness to make improvements that ensure the highest level of security for students, staff, and assets, minimizing the risk of loss and liability. Additionally, you will train and oversee safety and security specialists while managing the security operations center.

In this role, you will monitor security conditions to conduct ongoing analysis of data from various sources and advise university administration on appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of a university community security training strategy, frequent communication with the administration, and oversight and direction of major security-related projects and physical security technologies (e.g., card key access systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, and security services). You will ensure that appropriate steps are taken to maintain university-wide security compliance; interpret security laws, regulations, and contract agreements; and provide guidance on best practices and solutions for security standards to uphold a secure environment. Additionally, you will travel on a national and international basis to build relationships and oversee security measures at all SCAD locations.

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Previous security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • Previous management experience 

Preferred qualifications:      

  • Four-year college degree

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:  

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport

Travel required:  

  • 10–20%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
