As a shop technician, you will maintain a clean and safe ceramics studio, ensuring it is well-stocked with essential equipment and supplies. You will train students on the proper use of the equipment and studio procedures, monitor studio hours, and oversee kiln and throwing wheel operations. Responsibilities include making clay and glaze, researching materials and techniques, and photographing student work. You will collaborate with faculty to ensure the studio environment meets class expectations, support SCADextra workshops, SCADday programs, and end-of-year exhibitions, and work with the ceramics club to host events in the studio. 

Minimum qualifications:  

  • Prior experience working as a ceramic artist
  • Prior experience firing ceramic work and raku

Preferred qualifications: 

  • B.F.A. in a related field

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
