As a clinical case manager, you will help student access their health insurance benefits, including low-cost coverage and community resources for mental health care. You will manage an active caseload of students, overseeing individual and group counseling sessions as needed. Your responsibilities include providing referrals directly to students and tracking their outcomes. Among other duties, you will perform on-call student crisis intervention and follow up after hospitalization regarding their mental health needs. You will also participate in quarterly student orientations and promptly document student contact in Titanium. Similarly, you will record services in accordance with clinical, ethical, and legal standards and maintain accurate client files in compliance with CS3 policies and procedures.

In this role, you will serve as the mental health case manager to update and maintain the database of community providers, including fees, insurance details, and current openings for clients. You will establish working relationships with various university leaders and departments, such as the dean of students, university safety, SCADhome, SCAD Athletics, and student disability services. This includes the management and documentation of the Student Concern Alerts (SCA) received by office of mental health. Additionally, you will develop professional relationships with external mental health agencies, local hospitals, and private practitioners. You will also act as the community liaison between SCAD and local outpatient facilities to facilitate treatment referrals.

In this position, when permitted by law, you will communicate with staff and designated emergency contacts about significant mental health emergencies, including hospitalizations and other crises. Communications may include treatment recommendations, hospital discharge plans, and transition plans for returning to campus once stabilized. You will provide staff with consultations related to community mental health resources and referrals, inform your supervisor of staff development needs, and participate in performance improvement initiatives. Among other duties, you will maintain a personal schedule within the master schedule in Titanium, prepare performance reviews for approval, and attend weekly case conferences. Additionally, you will collaborate on departmental projects, committees, and outreach program development and presentations as assigned.

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. They also have collaboration skills to make treatment decisions for students and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The candidate is highly adaptable, flexible, and organized.

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Experience working with diverse populations and in young adult case management or care coordination
  • Ability to operate online scheduling and documentation software systems
  • Proficiency in using electronic records and scheduling programs

Preferred qualifications:      

  • At least two years of experience in counseling and higher education environments 

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:  

  • Clinical licensure OR license eligible in clinical mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field

Travel required:  

  • Less than 10%   

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
