As a taekwondo head coach, you will foster positive community relations to build a favorable reputation for SCAD athletics and the team within SCAD, Atlanta, the greater Georgia area, and national communities. You will recruit qualified and SCAD-aligned student-athletes, establish training standards, and oversee well-structured practice sessions. Among other duties, you will train student-athletes to deepen their understanding of taekwondo and develop methods for instruction and assessment to evaluate learning potential and achievement. Additionally, you will create emergency protocols for injuries and coordinate with students, parents, and healthcare providers to assess player eligibility or ineligibility to participate.

In this role, you will coordinate competitions with respected universities and organize sports camps as needed. You will employ strategies that help student-athletes graduate in four years and find rewarding careers. Responsibilities include player retention encouragement, maintenance of regular office hours, and attendance at university events. Additionally, you will resolve issues related to the taekwondo program and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Advanced degree in a related field
  • Experience coaching intercollegiate athletics, fundraising in a college environment, and managing budgets
  • Understanding of NAIA guidelines, federal regulations, and other policies governing intercollegiate athletics

Preferred qualifications:      

  • At least two years of intercollegiate coaching experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:  

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle report
  • Valid passport 

Travel required:  

  • 20–40%   

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
