As a director of social strategy and creative content, you will prepare schedules, rosters, and team statistics, as well as coordinate the publication of seasonal media guides for specific intercollegiate sports. You will foster close working relationships with the marketing and PR departments to ensure consistent, current information for both internal and external audiences. Among other responsibilities, you will attend home games, record scoring, and update information on the athletics website. Additionally, you will oversee student workers and manage SCAD Athletics' social media accounts. You will also assist the Athletic Communications Director with the daily operations of the sports information office.
In this role, you will serve as the lead supervisor and coordinator for all student employment departments within athletics. You will develop best practices and style guides for social and digital content creation and assist in budget planning for social media tools, subscriptions, and equipment. Among other duties, you will oversee photo and video archives and maintain historical records for athletics; participate in cross-departmental meetings on marketing, brand strategy, or student engagement; and implement a comprehensive content calendar across social platforms to ensure timely coverage of athletic events, features, and campaigns. Additionally, you will also provide live updates during games and special events.
In this position, you will monitor social media trends, analytics, and fan engagement to refine strategies for maximum reach and impact. You will also interact with fans, alumni, and recruits through comments, direct messages, and interactive campaigns. Your responsibilities include growth, impressions, and engagement via analytics dashboards; the preparation of performance reports for leadership; and the coordination of livestreams or broadcast coverage of athletic events. Among other duties, you will serve as the main contact for local and regional media, distributing press releases, arranging interviews, and pitching feature stories to boost visibility for athletes and programs. You will organize press conferences and media days for major sports or athletes and collaborate with the university’s primary communications team to ensure athletics coverage aligns with overall institutional messaging.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least three years of experience working in an athletic department coordinating sports information, promoting teams, and executing game management
Travel required:
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
