SCAD seeks an innovative, interdisciplinary educator to join the Interactive Technology and Game Development (ITGM) department. This role is designed for a creative technologist who is fluent across multiple technical and creative domains and who thrives at the intersection of design, real-time technology, and emerging digital systems. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for mentoring students as they build meaningful, industry-relevant work in a rapidly evolving creative technology landscape.

ITGM is an interdisciplinary program preparing students for careers in game development, interactive experience design, simulation, immersive media, and emerging technology sectors. The curriculum integrates creative practice, technical fluency, and systems thinking, encouraging experimentation, problem solving, and iterative making while helping students develop the ability to learn new tools and technologies independently. Faculty bridge creative and technical thinking to support future-ready creative technologists working across entertainment, enterprise, healthcare, training, and AI-driven interactive environments.

This position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in game development, interactive design, and creative technology, with a strong emphasis on real-time engine workflows using Unreal Engine and Unity. Faculty guide students in programming and scripting for interactive systems, gameplay mechanics, and intelligent behaviors, as well as in building interactive prototypes, simulations, XR experiences, and real-time applications informed by UX principles, data, APIs, and applied AI workflows. The role also includes collaboration across disciplines, participation in departmental service, and ongoing curriculum development aligned with emerging technologies and contemporary industry practice.

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in the discipline or in a relevant field
  • Academic and professional credentials to teach in the discipline
  • Two years of work experience in a related profession or post-secondary teaching experience
  • Strong portfolio of relevant professional work that showcases experience with Photoshop, digital visualization, and design (emphasizing technical skills)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of related industry experience
  • Understanding of curriculum development and higher education operations
  • Higher education mentorship and teaching experience

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekend and evenings.
