As an audiovisual (AV) support specialist, you will set up, break down, and operate sound and video systems for university events. You will provide event leadership for live activities and ensure the optimal use of conference rooms, multimedia resources, and other IT resources. As required, you will attend production meetings and manage service requests. Among other duties, you will prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence and manage all inventories and assets in the audiovisual department across the Savannah location. Responsibilities include the creation of equipment lists, floor plans, and rack and console elevations. You will also ensure that the requested equipment is set up and operational in accordance with department standards.
In this role, you will maintain classroom AV systems, assist faculty with in-room technology, and support equipment and cable installation across SCAD Savannah. You will serve as both an operator and a troubleshooter to support all levels of presentation and performance needs. This responsibility includes the operation of hardware and software in performance spaces to ensure the smooth completion of SCAD events and classroom experiences. Additionally, you will keep equipment and university vehicles in good condition and adhere to all OSHA regulations and safe practices.
The ideal candidate is committed to customer service and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a team to deliver high-quality AV support for a wide range of presentations and events. They communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and event personnel, demonstrating a strong understanding of audio, lighting, video projection, and system operations. The candidate has the technical skills to troubleshoot on-site and infrastructure issues with presentation equipment.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcast technology, or a related discipline
- At least one year of experience with AV equipment in a professional or academic setting
- Experience with equipment setup, operation, and disassembly, as well as familiarity with the workflow of live A/V productions in indoor and outdoor venues
- Background in setting up and operating A/V for live events in large arenas, live music venues, public speaking events, conference rooms, and teleconferencing

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
