As a director of community standards, you will work with faculty, staff, and students to investigate reports of potential conduct violations. You will provide training and indirect supervision to SCADhome staff on conduct-related issues, as well as training and advising to hearing officers at all SCAD locations to ensure consistent policy implementation. Similarly, you will provide training for professional staff and faculty on conduct matters. You will adjudicate cases involving off-campus and on-campus students who violate university policies listed in the student handbook, code of student conduct, and other university policies. Among other duties, you will determine sanctions for students found responsible for violating policies.
In this role, you will counsel individual students, including victims and offenders, on their rights and responsibilities. You will oversee developmentally appropriate educational sanctions and analyze data to support these efforts. Among other duties, you will manage the conduct database, develop and implement student conduct assessments, and measure progress to improve the quality of service provided to students. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of appropriate manuals, forms, procedures, and reports for the conduct process. You will also serve on an on-call rotation for the entire location, respond to emergencies, and provide guidance in crisis situations.
This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.
Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field
- At least four years of experience with student conduct, residence life and housing, or work in a university setting
Travel required:
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
