As a barista manager at Press Café, you will communicate the general manager's directives to the team and ensure the café runs smoothly. You will supervise and train work-study students, conduct interviews with the general manager, and oversee team members' daily tasks. Each week, you will create the schedule to ensure adequate staffing, contribute to a positive team environment, and manage merchandising. Responsibilities include food prep to maintain adequate supply levels and ensure product quality, as well as monthly counts and orders for retail inventory. Among other duties, you will complete food and beverage inventory orders, develop and implement café policies and procedures, and ensure the restaurant area is clean and orderly.
To identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement, you will review the restaurant environment and key business indicators. You will also direct the shift team to meet operational goals. Additionally, you will support the team as needed with food and drink preparation and work to maintain excellent health inspection scores. At the end of each shift, you will reconcile money and complete reports.
The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills. They also display outstanding interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with the shift team. The candidate remains calm during high-volume periods or unusual events and leads with a customer-first attitude, delivering service that meets or exceeds expectations. They exhibit integrity, honesty, and fiscal responsibility as well as an awareness of labor and food costs. The candidate also thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum qualifications:
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience in a café
- At least one year of customer service experience in a food and beverage environment
Preferred qualifications:
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Valid driver’s license
- Approval as a SCAD-authorized driver
Travel required:
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
