As the head coach for the SCAD beach volleyball team, you'll be the program's go-to contact for all things budget, rules compliance, injury and emergency procedures, and general team oversight and management. You'll serve as a mentor for student-athletes, fostering confidence, discipline, and a positive attitude — one that you'll model through an enthusiastic approach toward team leadership. You will also ensure adherence to all department and SCAD policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws, and interpretations of the Sun Conference and the NAIA.
The head coach sets the tone, energy, and environment to help student-athletes thrive. To do so, you'll ensure members' safety and wellbeing during practices and competitions, handle all travel arrangements, manage any necessary paperwork, and maintain regular office hours in support of your team. You'll develop a regular, weekly practice schedule for individual and team development and communicate as appropriate with students, parents, and physicians to stay on top of participation eligibility.
Among other duties, you'll recruit the highest caliber student-athletes, encourage retention, and implement strategies to ensure athletes graduate on time — and enable them to pursue rewarding careers. You'll also schedule competitions against recognized and respected colleges and universities, attend SCAD events as needed, and provide excellent leadership for all instructional staff.
The successful candidate has a proven ability to establish and cultivate effective working relationships within a team environment. A commitment to student development is essential.
