Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Library Graduate Assistant will work to support online open publishing and teaching efforts of EKU faculty and students. The main tasks will be participating in the creation and management of EKU faculty authored open educational resources (OER), assisting with OER publishing tasks, researching OER best practices, identifying gaps and revising or developing digital learning objects, and collaborating and communicating with stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Licensure & Certifications: Must be enrolled at EKU

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has professional interest in a writing or education-related field. Candidate should be detail-oriented, have the ability to take direction and work independently as needed, and possess excellent communication skills. 

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Collaborate with the Open Strategies librarian to support the creation and management of EKU faculty authored open textbooks. Tasks include identifying existing OER to adapt or modify, assisting faculty authors with loading content into publishing platforms, and co-creating instructional materials related to scholarly communication topics. - (Essential)
  • 35% - Collaborate with the Open Strategies Librarian and assist with OER publishing tasks. Tasks include formatting and copy editing OER prior to publication, verifying copyright of materials, and conducting accessibility checks to ensure compliance to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Collaborate with the Online Learning Librarian to identify gaps and revise existing or develop new digital learning objects; may include creation of videos, interactive modules, and/or lesson plans to be used by librarians and/or faculty at EKU. - (Essential)
