Job Summary/Basic Functions

Graduate Assistants with the McNair Scholars Program will assist program staff with the administration of program processes and operations, including data management, program/event planning, and student engagement and support. Graduate Assistants will develop professionally desirable skills and competencies while supporting the development of McNair Scholars. Successful applicants will demonstrate an ability to interact with professionals from many areas of the university and other McNair Scholar programs and with students from a range of undergraduate majors. McNair Scholar Graduate Assistants will model successful undergraduates' behaviors, including time management, project management, communication and social skills, and personal and academic goal setting and achievement. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Enrolled in Graduate School at EKU

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a McNair Scholars Program and/or other federal TRIO program

Special Instructions: About McNair Scholars: The Ronald McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is a federal TRiO program, funded by the federal government to support the preparation of eligible participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. McNair Scholars have demonstrated strong academic potential. Institutions work closely with participants as they complete undergraduate requirements, prepare for, apply to, and enroll in graduate programs. Institutions track graduates’ progress through to the successful completion of their advanced degrees. The goal is to increase the attainment of doctoral degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society.
