Job Summary/Basic Functions
We are seeking enthusiastic and creative students to join the Communications and Brand Management department as a Social Media & Brand Ambassador. This role offers the opportunity to represent the Eastern Kentucky University brand across social media platforms, create engaging content and serve as a student voice for current and prospective students.
Position runs on a semester by semester basis with the possibility of extension based on performance.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Must be enrolled at EKU
Experience:
- Current EKU student in good academic standing
- Demonstrated experience using platforms like Instagram and TikTok
- Strong video editing and photography skills
- Professional, reliable and self-motivated
- Comfortable being both in front of and behind the camera
- Creative thinker who is aware of social media trends and audience behavior

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in content creation, marketing, journalism or communications
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other editing tools
- Involvement in student organizations, leadership roles, or on-campus activities

Job Duties:
Content Creation, Brainstorming & Management
- Create authentic, high-quality and engaging video and photo content that showcases campus life, student experiences, academic programs, events, campus buildings, lesser-known EKU facts, etc.
- Brainstorm and pitch social media posts for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook and Threads to grow social media audiences and improve engagement rates
- Capture and edit short-form video content that aligns with brand guidelines and trends
- Attend and document key campus events to share real-time and/or recap content
- Help brainstorm creative approaches to grow social media audiences and improve engagement rates
- Host and contribute to social media story takeovers, student Q&A sessions and/or “day in the life” style campaigns
- Participate in regular team meetings to pitch content ideas, share feedback and align on upcoming projects
- Maintain consistent communication with supervisor and other ambassadors to coordinate content planning and deadlines and minimize overlap
Brand Representation
- Act as a positive, professional representative of EKU, reflecting the university's values and image
- Participate in on-campus events to promote the university to prospective students and families
- Collaborate with the SSEO and athletics teams to amplify key campaigns and initiatives
