Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Building Control Systems Technician will coordinate Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (hereafter MEP) Services staff, within their appointed areas of specialty, to ensure that the New Science Building (hereafter NSB) operates at the expected level of comfort and efficiency. Coordinate all activities related to monitoring and maintenance of the NSB MEP systems, including use of various computer systems, to maintain an optimum educational environment. Incumbent works directly with the Associate Director of Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC-R, and assists them by coordinating Facilities Services resources that are assigned to specific NSB tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required

Completion of an appropriate technical school and certification within the area of specialty and accountability is preferred.

Knowledge of all OSHA regulations and Safety Code requirements.


Controls

The Metasys building automation system for the New Science Building has functional control of every Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing system and component, including all building lighting.


Components with Industrial Computers installed in the equipment that communicate with Metasys:

De-Ionized Water System

Clean Steam generator

Tiger Flow Hot Water Pumping package

Systacon Variable speed pumping system

2 York Chillers

Components that communicate VIA Bacnet to Metasys:

Phoenix Controls valves (damper systems)

Emergency Power Generator & Transfer Switch

Fire Suppression system & Fire Pump

All Other systems are controlled by Metasys.

All Fume Hoods have multiple control sensors on every sash.

Experience: Five years of directly related work experience is required.

Licensure & Certifications: A valid state driver's license is required.
Journeyman or higher license in mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing is required.
Certified Natural Gas Handler is preferred.

Job Duties:

  • 70% - Completes preventative maintenance and repairs in assigned area to ensure efficient operations. - ()

  • 10% - Supports the University in its operations as assigned - ()
