The Maintenance Technician operates equipment and tools, responds to facility and event-related maintenance needs, and helps ensure the Center remains event-ready at all times. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency (HSE) Test • Two (2) years of work experience in maintenance • Must have a working knowledge of a variety of fields including electrical, electronics, plumbing, HVAC, computers, and mechanical systems • Must possess or are able to obtain a valid Tennessee driver’s license KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Electrical – Check and/or install electrical circuits, wiring, components; replace broken or non-working light switches and receptacles; replace fluorescent lamps and ballasts; work on exterior building and pole mounted high-intensity-discharge fixtures. • Plumbing – Check and repair problems with sinks, toilets, faucets, flush valves, and toilet seats. • HVAC/Refrigeration – Change unit filters and belts; check out units that are reported as not operating properly; clean units and chiller coils; replace condenser or evaporator fan motors or other components as needed. • Carpentry – Replace broken or stained ceiling tiles, hang pictures, etc. • Painting – Repaint or touch up walls and doors as needed; paint small items using spray paint. • Lawn Care/Grounds Upkeep – yard mowing, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, etc. • Equipment Inventory GENERAL SERVICES • Conduct campus cleanliness; • move furniture or other large items; • setup for events; • deliver goods; • help instructors with equipment moves; • assist other departments as needed; • monitor parking lot as needed; • keep the plant warehouse clean, neat, and orderly at all times • Other duties as assigned.
