The School of Communications at Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor of cinema and television arts, with an expected start in fall 2027. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate courses in the Cinema and Television Arts major and the School of Communications core curriculum. The position is based on Elon's campus in Elon, North Carolina, and requires regular on-campus presence.

The successful candidate will be a colleague committed to excellent teaching, student mentoring, and active participation in the life of a vibrant, nationally accredited school and university. Candidates should demonstrate professional and/or scholarly experience in cinema and/or television.

Special consideration will be given to candidates whose background also includes any of the following: film, television, or emerging media production, published scholarship or creative activity, screenwriting, hands-on experience with studio and control room technologies, mentorship of student media organizations, active connections with working professionals in major entertainment markets, and/or support of initiatives specifically designed for increasing opportunities for under-represented groups in the entertainment industry.

Minimum qualifications are a terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) completed by May 2027 and relevant professional industry and/or scholarly experience. Evidence of engaged and effective teaching at the college level is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach, advise and mentor students, show potential for sustained scholarship or creative activity, and demonstrate the willingness to contribute to the life of the university through service.
