The UND Computational Research Center (CRC) provides High Performance Computing, Big Data, AI, Data Visualization, and data storage resources to university researchers who require such resources to carry out their research activities. These resources also include staff support and guidance for data management, data generation, software development, application usage, and project management in these areas.
The Integration of Predictive Modeling Computation with Supercomputing Capabilities into Extreme Cold Weather Research Cyberinfrastructure initiative focuses on developing and incorporating computational processes and distributed workflows into a platform-flexible AI/ML-integrated Arctic Knowledge Based System (A-KBS) solution which can efficiently and accurately process the extremely large datasets necessary for the predictive analytics, modeling, and decision support tools needed for identification, quantification, analysis, and visualization of Arctic geospatial data. The implementation of scalable and parallelized geospatial processing of this scope will necessitate fundamentally new workflows in computational development. These will include constructing a Kubernetes Cluster on-premises and in the cloud and integrating Science Gateways connected with Supercomputing Centers. Our research team is particularly well-equipped to undertake the proposed research due to our extensive Arctic research experience and publications, advanced computational development, and quality of research facilities.
