Salary/Position Classification

  • 15.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 39 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

Opportunity to gain experience with technology such as acoustic recording units (ARUs), data management, bird inventory skills, vegetation evaluation, restoration approaches and landowner interactions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct bird surveys using acoustic recording units
  • Conduct vegetation surveys
  • Data entry and proofing
  • Validation of bird identification from audio recordings 

Required Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a team.
  • Ability to work long hours outdoors in sometimes adverse conditions

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing or have obtained a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology or related field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in grassland conservation, avian ecology, and restoration ecology
  • Ability to identify birds by sound
