Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Office Assistants play a key role in creating a welcoming and helpful environment for all students and faculty. Responsibilities include general office tasks such as scanning documents, organizing spreadsheets, sorting mail, making copies, typing, filing and supporting various projects as needed. This role is ideal for students who are organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating a positive experience for others.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and assist students and faculty in a friendly and professional manner
- Filing and scanning documents
- Organize and pack office supplies, equipment, and documents in preparation for office move
- Receive, distribute and dispatch mail
- Demonstrate effective critical thinking through problem solving, prioritization and communication
- Ability to complete daily administrative tasks as assigned
- Maintain confidentially and uphold policies and procedures
- Contribute to a positive team-oriented office environment
Required Competencies
- Must maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and other privacy standards
- Strong communication skills and reliability are essential for success in this role
- High attention to detail is required to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is necessary
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check
Minimum Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service and/or office settings
- Availability to work during key office hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
- Willingness and ability to work during academic breaks and summer months
