Purpose of Position

The purpose of this Research Analyst position is to provide research and evaluation support to the BEARS research team and the CEHD. Activities include, but are not limited to, grant evaluation, literature reviews, research design (Identify research problem, develop research questions and goals, design data collection, obtain ethical approval, write/edit survey questions, experimental design, qualitative interview protocol and question development), data collection (paper or online survey, intervention, interview, transcription), data analysis (statistical group comparisons, correlation, predictive modeling, qualitative analysis), data visualization, grant seeking and writing, and report writing.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate data collection and data analysis
    • Plan and conduct studies and evaluations using appropriate methodologies
    • Lead survey development and implement procedures for data collection
    • Create on-line surveys
    • Obtain secondary data sets
    • Administer surveys
    • Input data when utilizing hardcopy surveys
    • Clean and document data sets
    • Analyze data sets
    • Conduct and assist with interviews and focus groups
    • Transcribe and assist with analysis of interviews and/or focus groups
    • Create graphs and tables of analysis findings
    • Prepare written reports of data findings, including charts and graphs 
  • Project coordination and support
    • Work directly with project PIs to develop methods and means of analysis for projects
    • Support the supervision of graduate student assistants
    • Coordinate special projects related to program objectives
    • Conduct literature reviews as necessary to inform outcome reporting and analysis planning
    • Plan, organize and direct administrative activities 
  • Information dissemination and expansion of knowledge base
    • Suggest conclusions based on data analysis findings
    • Interact with BEARS team members and stakeholders
    • Strengthen relations with stakeholders, administrators, and others
    • Perform presentations and create posters related to research methods and findings
    • Disseminate information to stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in educational research, psychology, sociology, statistics, or other quantitative social science/educational research-related field.
  • Experience with data collection and entry, survey construction, data interpretation and analysis, and report writing. Experience may be related to academic coursework.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with with statistical program (e.g. SPSS, R, SAS, or equivalent) and be willing to learn additional programs and skills as required.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
