Salary/Position Classification

• $25,000 - $35,000 depending on experience, contract, Exempt
• 4 hours per week
• 100% Remote Work Availability: No

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to promote health system science integration throughout the medical school curriculum and advise the Chair on opportunities to advance health system science.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Articulate a vision for the future of health system sciences within the department and medical school.
2. Assist the Chair in fostering an environment in the department that values and promotes health system sciences integration throughout the medical school curriculum.
3. Advise the Department Chair on opportunities to advance health system science, including new partnerships with teaching hospitals/health systems and curriculum enhancement.
4. Advance and increase the impact of health system sciences curriculum to include the following educational components:
   a. Quality and Safety
   b. Health Care Utilization management
   c. Clinical Informatics and Health Care Artificial Intelligence (AI)
   d. Care Management & interprofessional teams-based care delivery
   e. Population and Public Health
   f. Leadership, Health Policy and advocacy
   g. Patient centeredness and health care equity
   h. Clinical documentation improvement
5. Interact with, and serve as a liaison to, university and health system leaders to promote health system sciences initiatives.
6. Coordinates and completes evaluations of the phase 3 required quality project proposals.
7. Support students, residents, fellows, and faculty in developing and submitting posters, presentations and publications related to health system sciences.
8. Increase opportunities to conduct health system sciences research.
9. Serve as a mentor for faculty members with specific interest in health system sciences.
10. Participate in relevant departmental and schoolwide committees.

Required Competencies

• History of excellence in health system sciences work and teaching.

Minimum Requirements

• MD, DO, PhD, or Masters degree
• Qualified and appointed as SMHS faculty in the relevant department.
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
