Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. Unsolicited applications to this posting will NOT be considered.

As a Desk Assistant, you’ll be the friendly face of the Wilkerson Service Center, helping students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. You’ll get hands-on experience in customer service, campus operations, and problem-solving, all while supporting the day-to-day flow of campus life. This includes sorting and distributing mail, issuing keys and FOBs, communicating campus events, and assisting the Housing & Residence Life Operations Manager with a variety of tasks. Some shifts may involve driving a UND vehicle to campus housing locations, fun for anyone who enjoys being on the move!

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors
  • Sort mail and packages for distribution; may include driving to various campus housing mailbox locations
  • Issue pass keys for lockouts or lost keys
  • Assist with communication of campus events and activities
  • Assist in departmental processes

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Desire to be genuinely helpful and assist students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, professional and detail oriented
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (FERPA)
  • Knowledge of UND residence halls, apartment communities, campus offices, and resources is preferred
  • Tech-savvy with a willingness to adapt to new systems
  • Provided staff shirt must be worn during shifts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flexible schedule: Desk Assistants are expected to work 5–20 hours per week. Shifts are available:
    • Weekdays: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
    • Weekends: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
    • Closed on official UND holidays
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, or break work may be required
  • Preference given to students with a very flexible schedule who are willing to pick up shifts as available
  • Long-term potential: This position may continue through summer 2026 and future semesters, depending on performance, availability, and budget
