Purpose of Position
The director of academic and clinical integration will lead the strategic development and implementation of UND LIVE (Learners Improving Value Equation), a transformative partnership with health systems aimed at embedding high value care education and real-world process improvement projects into the medical school curriculum and graduate medical education. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education by integrating value-based care principles, patient safety, clinical informatics, population health, interprofessional teams, patient experience, health equity, leadership and policy advocacy into training programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence workforce development, clinical excellence, and long-term organizational performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of the UND LIVE initiative.
- Align educational programming with health system priorities and strategic quality objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and clinical excellence across academic and clinical settings.
- Curriculum Development
- Co-develop and oversee health system science curricula for medical students, residents, fellows, and other health professionals (e.g., nursing, pharmacy, therapies).
- Integrate health system sciences into existing and new educational and training programs.
- Faculty Engagement & Mentorship
- Facilitate joint faculty appointments and mentorship opportunities.
- Support faculty development in health system sciences.
- Clinical Integration.
- Embed PI projects into clinical rotations and electives.
- Collaborate with clinical departments to identify and support high-impact initiatives.
- Data & Outcomes
- Lead efforts in shared data tracking and outcomes measurement.
- Promote dissemination of findings through publications, conferences, and grant applications.
- Partnership Development
- Serve as a liaison between UND School of Medicine and Teaching health systems.
- Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance program goals.
Required Competencies
- Advanced degree (e.g., MSN, MPH, MHA, MBA, MS in Health Informatics, or related field) with a focus on healthcare delivery, systems improvement, or leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, or health system sciences.
- Proven leadership in academic or clinical settings.
- Strong understanding of value-based care and QI methodologies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

Minimum Requirements
- Advanced degree (e.g., MSN, MPH, MHA, MBA, MS in Health Informatics, or related field) with a focus on healthcare delivery, systems improvement, or leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, or health system sciences.
- Proven leadership in academic or clinical settings.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree (MD, DO, PhD, Doctorate or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Experience in curriculum development and medical education.
- Track record of scholarly activity in health system sciences.
- Experience with informatics, population health, and care management.
- Experience working within or alongside integrated health systems.
