Purpose of Position

The mission of the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to provide excellent and collaborative education, scholarship and service to advance human well-being for all, with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations.

The University of North Dakota's CNPD is comprised of the departments of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Social Work as well as the Children & Family Services Training Center. The College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines offers innovative online educational programs, a simulation laboratory, and a supportive student environment for both face-to-face and distance learning.

For this position, the graduate nursing department seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor to teach in the Psych-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 90% - Teaching and Advising Students in the PMHNP track (includes advising independent study projects). Potential courses to be taught include:
    • NURS 538 Psychiatric Diagnostic Reasoning
    • NURS 583 Individual Therapy
    • NURS 584 Group and Family Therapy
    • NURS 564 Psychopharmacology
    • NURS 588 Management of Psychopathology I
    • NURS 589 Management of Psychopathology II
    • NURS 598 Advanced Clinical Practicum
  • 10% - Service to the University, College and/or Department
    • Specific service duties will be coordinated with the department chair

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in nursing
  • Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner across the lifespan
  • Unencumbered nursing license
  • Ability to obtain license in ND and other states as required
  • Current clinical experience as a PMHNP
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
