Purpose of Position
The Rane Lab at the Department of Biology invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position to join the theoretical immunology group led by Dr. Rane. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly with Dr. Rane on investigating the dynamics of the immune system in both health and disease. Funds may be available for conference travel/professional development. This appointment is contingent on the availability of external funding. The initial appointment is expected to be for one year, full-time and benefitted, with potential for renewal for a second year, contingent on the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and refine computational, mathematical, and statistical models to understand and explain biological phenomena.
- Create algorithms to integrate large and diverse datasets into theoretical frameworks for modeling complex biological systems.
- Collaborate closely with leading experts in the fields of experimental immunology and computational biology.
- Contribute to the generation of impactful research findings in the realm of immunology, with potential applications to areas such as cancer research, cell biology, and ecology.
- Present research at meetings and write manuscripts and grants.
Required Competencies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Programming proficiency.
- A demonstrated interest in immunology, cancer research, cell biology, or ecology is advantageous, though not mandatory.
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in biology, mathematics, physics, engineering, or computer science
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in applied mathematics or bioinformatics
- Prior experience applying applied mathematics, physics, engineering, or computer science to biology or related fields.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including but not limited to Python, R, C++, Stan, etc. Publications that demonstrate expertise in areas related to this project.
