Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the construction, alteration, and repair of costumes for UND Theatre productions
- Perform basic sewing tasks by hand and machine, including hemming, mending, and fittings
- Support costume fittings by organizing garments, assisting performers, and making adjustment notes
- Maintain organization of the costume shop, including tools, fabrics, notions, and workstations
- Assist with costume inventory, labeling, laundering, and storage between productions
- Help prepare costumes for rehearsals and performances
- Follow safety procedures when using sewing machines, irons, dyes, and other shop equipment
- Work collaboratively with costume designers, shop supervisors, and fellow students
- Meet production deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced, creative environment
- Represent the UND Theatre program in a professional and respectful manner
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a shop and rehearsal environment
- Basic hand-sewing skills or willingness to learn (training provided)
- Ability to safely use or learn to use sewing and costume shop equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time around classes and rehearsals
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to approximately 25 lbs
- Availability for scheduled shop hours, with some evening or weekend hours as required by production schedules
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
