Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired into this position.
Standardized patients, also known as SPs, are used in several ways in the education of health professionals. The role of an SP is to accurately and consistently portray the medical background, physical condition, and emotional state of a patient. As a Standardized Patient, you may be interviewed and/or examined by medical students, resident physicians, or other allied health students (e.g. physician assistant, nursing, etc.).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a patient for medical students and other health discipline students, as needed.
- Accurately portray the background and physical and/or emotional state of case assigned.
- Be a patient model for students to practice physical examination maneuvers and medical interviewing skills. Physical examinations are basic exam maneuvers and are not invasive. There are no shots, blood draws, or invasive techniques or testing.

o Confidentiality is of utmost importance. All case material, students, and personnel information must be protected and kept confidential.
- Must have some weekday afternoon availability (schedule is typically Monday-Thursday afternoons 12:30-5:00 p.m.)
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
