Salary/Position Classification
- $17.85-$22.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
- 40 hours per week
- Typical shift 12:30pm-9:00pm
- This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus
Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position it to prepare, produce and serve products in the cold foods department in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
Cold Food Production
- Prepares all salads items and fresh fruit as scheduled.
- Preps salad and fruit ahead for the next meals
- Prepares all the condiments and salad dressing for the cold table in service areas
- Sets up and maintains the salad and condiment bars
- Follows large quantity recipes and scales recipes up or down as needed
Supervises and directs staff/students
- Assigns Full time, part time and student staff to specific positions and responsibilities/training
- Assigns staff on specific tasks with a timeline for completion
- Instructs servers on portion size and proper method of serving
- Insures the salad, deli, soup, rice, and taco bars are set up and replenished with food to prevent shortage and rotated to insure freshness
- Notify Production Manager of any product issues – shortages/longs to ensure high quality product
Follows all safety, sanitation, and HACCP policies and procedures
- Accurately completes temperature logs
- Responsible for maintaining high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in the production, serving and storage of food
- Stores leftover salads and desserts after meal service according to food safety guidelines
- Oversees proper rotation of all prepped items, also making sure that they are disposed of correctly with Lean Path as necessary
- Oversees product rotation in assigned areas
Required Competencies

- Has the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to stand on feet 3-4 hours and move 45-50 lbs as necessary
- Ability to read and comprehend reports and basic math skills to complete reports
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.

- Ability to motivate and supervise others
- Works well with college age students

- Have an optimistic attitude, high degree of integrity, and a strong work ethic
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with reading, following, and comprehending basic recipes and other written materials used daily.
- Experience using materials and equipment used in the food industry
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications
- ServSafe certified.
- Has large quantity food production experience
- One year of food service preparation experience
- One year leadership and supervisory experience
