Media Specialist (Part-Time) Harrisonburg
James Madison University’s Libraries is seeking a part-time Media Specialist to join the Media Production and Makerspace Services (MPMS) department. MPMS oversees spaces (including a makerspace: https://www.lib.jmu.edu/makery/ and production studio: https://www.lib.jmu.edu/media-production/) that are used to collaborate with the JMU community to create, explore, instruct, and problem-solve using cutting-edge technologies, multimedia equipment, workshops, and events.  The Media Specialist would assist in the creation of media production projects that are used for instructional work throughout JMU. Media production projects include video, audio, still and motion graphics, 3D modeling, and photography. This position would work individually and with a team to provide technical advice and assistance to patrons in studio spaces, providing support in the studios. This position will also work with Makerspace Instructors to design and provide workshops on audio, video, and/or studio production. The James Madison University Libraries seeks applicants for an Weekend & Evening Services Coordinator position to join the Music Library team and Access & User Services (AUS) department. Access & User Services (AUS) is a newly reorganized department comprised of three experienced teams - Access & Delivery, Library & Information Services, and the Music Library. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to offering high-quality services to JMU and the local community. As a member of the Music Library team, the position will primarily supervise the service desk located in the Music building and will regularly work hours with the Library & Information Services team in different locations. This position works to maintain a shared standard of service at all service points, as well as respond effectively to diverse user needs. This position also helps support the part-time and student employees in the Music Library. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position with benefits. Normal work shifts for this position will align with later operations and closing procedures for our buildings. When classes are in session, a typical schedule would be Monday-Thursday 10:30AM-7:30PM and Fridays 11:30AM-8:30PM. During Final Exams, summer, and intersession periods, work hours will shift earlier or later in alignment with operating hours. Therefore, flexibility with work schedules is necessary to reflect the shifts in operations. Shifts will occur in both the Music Library and other JMU library service locations; routine travel between locations is an expectation.
