Job Summary/Basic Functions

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Educator in Residence. The Educator in Residence (EIR) supports the mission of the College of Education (COE) by contributing to high-quality clinical experiences and strengthening partnerships with P-12 schools. This part-time role involves mentoring and observing pre-service teachers, enhancing partnerships across all programs of COE, supporting professional learning initiatives, and contributing to instructional efforts as needed. This position is 30-hours per week, and budget pending, with the potential for yearly contract renewal, depending on the instructional needs of the College.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Understanding of teacher preparation programs and clinical experiences, including student teaching, practicum, and internship models
  • Knowledge of effective mentoring and coaching practices to support adult learners and early career educators
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and school-based mentors
  • Ability to serve as a reflective practitioner and role model of professional behavior, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to strengthen the design and delivery of clinical experiences and partnership efforts

 

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a P-12 educational setting as a teacher, coach, or school leader
  • Prior experience supervising pre-service teachers or mentoring early career educators

 

Additional Considerations:

KSAs

  • Extensive knowledge of K-12 instructional practices and pedagogy, including planning, classroom management, assessment, and student engagement strategies
  • Skill in observing and evaluating instructional practice, with the ability to provide constructive, strengths-based feedback to pre-service teachers
  • Teaching or co-teaching skills, with the flexibility to support undergraduate or graduate coursework as needed
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs within the College of Education, including teaching, mentoring, or supporting initiatives aligned with the College’s mission
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible, varied schedule across campus and school-based settings


EDUCATION

  • Master's in Education, Leadership or other related field

Experience

  • Background in leading or facilitating professional learning for adult educators
  • Experience with school-university partnerships or clinical education design
