Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington, an NCAA Division III institution located in historic and vibrant Fredericksburg, VA, is seeking a part time assistant coach. Graduate tuition remission may be possible after one year of employment. Coaching Athletic Assistant duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the head coach with practice and game preparation and coaching, recruiting, academics, fundraising, and the off-season program.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes.
  • Proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned.
  • Ability to scout opponents and break down game tapes, develop scouting and highlight reels.
  • Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, the C2C and the NCAA.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.

 

Required Experience:

  • 2-4 years experience as a Girls/Women's Lacrosse Coach.
  • Experience coaching at the collegiate level.
  • Experience as a student athlete in Lacrosse.

 

Additional Considerations:

KSAs:

  • An expressed interest in collegiate coaching.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field or equivalent training and experience.

Experience:

  • Experience playing on a Lacrosse team at the collegiate level.
