IT Administrative Assistant UMW
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an IT Administrative Assistant. This position administrative support to the Chief Information Officer and serves as the primary office manager for the Division of Information Technology. This position coordinates scheduling, correspondence, communications, and budget tracking for the CIO and IT leadership team, and manages a wide range of administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the IT division. The Administrative Assistant also supports special projects, internal coordination, and cross-departmental communications. The role requires a high level of confidentiality, initiative, and technical competence.
Student Retention Specialist UMW
The Student Retention Specialist provides support services for students to promote retention and academic success. This position will engage students with a variety of student services activities to promote progression toward graduation through ongoing partnerships with multiple student success offices. Additionally, the Retention Specialist is responsible for providing retention support including coaching, mentoring, and academic and success skills to both an established caseload of students as well as the larger university community in order to promote student success and retention. The work of the Retention Specialist will be driven and measured by the university’s established retention goals and regular assessment will measure progress to goal completion.
Crisis Professional On-Call UMW
The Crisis Professional On-Call is a part-time wage position that provides on-call support to the Resident Assistant staff on a weekly rotating basis. This position will work with other professionals within the on-call structure to schedule 24/7 coverage of the Fredericksburg campus. During on-call weeks, the Crisis Professional On-Call is required to carry a University issued “Professional On-Call” cell phone and respond to call incoming calls from Residence Life and Housing staff, UMW Police, and other University Administrators. During a typical on-call week, the CPOC may respond to general Standard Operating Procedure questions from Resident Assistants, provide over-the-phone and in-person support during behavioral and crisis incidents, serve as an escalation point for students and parents, resolve card access issues, make emergency contact notifications, and report up all serious incidents per the crisis communication matrix. Incidents may include, but are not limited to alcohol and drug use, roommate conflicts, mental health crisis, welfare checks, altercations, or any situation where student staff needs support. Due to the nature of the position, employees must reside in a University-provided on-campus apartment and be able to respond to an incident within 20 minutes of notification.
Capital Outlay Project Manager UMW
Administer construction of assigned projects with oversight by Capital Outlay Director and in accordance with contract documents, the Commonwealth of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual, and state procurement regulations and requirements. Experience and familiarity with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Construction and Professional Services Manual, Virginia Uniform State Building Code, erosion and sediment control and stormwater regulations, computer-aided design (CAD), and Primavera or similar scheduling software are preferred.

This position is responsible for the maintenance, care, upkeep of UMW building mechanical and electrical operating systems, building structures, equipment and furnishings. This position performs both routine and repair maintenance tasks and is responsible to coordinate the work of UMW staff, contract employees, and/or contractors of the University as required. This position will also provide shift coverage and is tasked with coordinating facilities services support and response to UMW operations. Shifts vary, from Wednesday-Sunday, 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm and Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

This individual will report to the Dean of Admissions but engage collaboratively with the first-year recruitment team, the Office of Financial Aid, the Center for Student Transition, Access, and Retention Services, and others across campus to provide informative and timely activities to build college awareness and affinity with UMW.
