What you’ll be doing:
As a Junior Developer (Full Stack), you will contribute to the development and enhancement of mission-critical software products that support frontline emergency services. Working within an Agile squad, you will collaborate with senior engineers to build, test, and deploy scalable features across our modern serverless stack. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your technical skills in a high-impact environment, where you will be encouraged to explore new technologies, participate in architectural discussions, and leverage AI-augmented tools to deliver high-quality code.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Professional Development Experience: A minimum of 2+ years in professional full-stack development, with experience designing and maintaining applications in an Agile environment.
- Modern Frontend Proficiency: Practical experience with React and TypeScript, including the use of UI libraries (such as shadcn/ui, tailwind css, etc) to build responsive, user-centric interfaces.
- Cloud Awareness: Familiarity with AWS services, particularly Lambda and API Gateway, and a basic understanding of event-driven concepts like SNS/SQS.
- Architectural Understanding: A developing awareness of modern architecture patterns, including Microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Database Fundamentals: Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL, with the ability to write and maintain efficient queries.
- AI-Augmented Development: Exposure to leveraging AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot) to assist in code generation, debugging, and accelerating your learning curve.
- GIS Exposure: A basic understanding of Geospatial technologies (ESRI, MapBox, or Leaflet) is highly regarded.
- Community Mindset: A genuine appreciation for the mission of a volunteer-based community service and the impact of the tools you build.
