Mission or Goal of Unit: VCU’s Department of Pediatrics is dedicated to shaping the next generation of compassionate, skilled pediatricians—caring for every child as if they were our own while advancing the field through innovative, impactful research. Our home base is the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in downtown Richmond, supported by a network of satellite locations and community clinics serving families across Central Virginia.
Chief Purpose of this Position in Support of Above Mission or Goal: The Complex Care section within the Division of General Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is seeking a non‑tenure eligible physician to join a dynamic, mission‑driven team engaged in clinical care, teaching, and research. Our multidisciplinary group includes dedicated faculty, advanced practice providers, nurse navigators, and a social worker, all committed to delivering exceptional care. Providers serve patients in both the state‑of‑the‑art inpatient tower and the downtown Children’s Pavilion, offering a diverse and rewarding clinical experience.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities. Faculty member will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable.
- Research: Faculty member will have working knowledge in research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.
- Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
- Clinical: Faculty member will serve as a pediatric complex care and palliative care physician for the Department of Pediatrics in the Section of Complex Care. The division provides clinical care to both inpatient and outpatient arenas as well as at the Transitional Care Unit at the Brook Road campus.
- Other: Faculty member will take on administrative duties associated with this role.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Board certified in Pediatrics and either Board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Experience with clinical care of patients
- Experience in an academic medical center
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a complex care clinic and/or caring for medically complex pediatric patients
Salary Range: Commensurate
