Department Summary: VCU has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Specialist to join the Treasury Services team!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Administers and maintains accounting functions and related activities for campus based loan programs ensuring compliance with university, state and federal regulations including Perkins loan assignments to the Department of Education

• Researches and verifies outgoing wires before processing at the bank

• Serves as the backup for daily disbursement operations

• Processes US Bank Prepaid card file approval requests

• Supports departmental duties and activities

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration or equivalent experience

• Basic knowledge of accounting, financial principles and operations

• Ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret financial data and draw sound conclusions

• Ability to interface between internal customers and technical/programming staff

• Proficient use of analytical tools and techniques and the ability to apply them appropriately

• Ability to fit into a team environment as characterized by shared accountability

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a variety of projects and to work independently

• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively at all levels within and outside the university

• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

• Several years of experience in a state/government business environment

• Knowledge and experience with Banner

• Ability to review, analyze, and interpret data based on a working knowledge of state and departmental policies and procedures

• Knowledge and experience with banking platforms

Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000
