At the VCU Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, our mission is to foster transformative research, discovery, and innovation at Virginia Commonwealth University through excellence in service.
We partner with faculty in all schools and departments as they seek funding, plan studies, establish collaborations, calculate budgets, submit grant applications, negotiate industry contracts, and secure patents and licensing agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate research compliance by supporting and coordinating daily activities and administrative processes; ensure efficient workflow; facilitate team communication; monitor case progress/deadlines; manage calendars; answer/direct phone calls and emails.
- Coordinate tasks for various projects, including research compliance communications, SOP review and creation, website updates, metrics, and case tracking.
- Under the supervision of the supervisor, develop written programs, procedures, and guidance pertaining to the research compliance program.
- Maintain the research compliance website, forms, and reporting to ensure the University is following the most recent regulations for federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Maintain files and documentation, ensuring proper storage, retention, and security. As required, sequester data and other evidence, and ensure its destruction at the end of the retention period.
- Support data management activities through data entry, coding, and generating reports
- Support data management and coordination of compliance training through data entry and calendaring.
- Other research compliance tasks as needed
Perform program administrative tasks -

Project management -
- Coordinate tasks for various projects, including research compliance communications, SOP review and creation, website updates, metrics, and case tracking.
- Support data management activities through data entry, coding, and generating reports.
- Use project management software to track, status and create reports and dashboards.
Communication and website maintenance -
- Maintain the research compliance website through review and coordinating updates with Director
- Coordinate research compliance communications (blog, list serve,etc)
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

1-3 years of relevant work experience in academia, or regulated environments. Professional experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Outstanding customer service skills and a high degree of professionalism
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interpret rules, regulations, and policies for use in programs and processes.
- Ability to adapt to change and ambiguity

- Project management and administrative coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant work experience involving research administration, regulations and policy.
- Project management experience
- Certifications in: PMP, CRA, CRC, CCEP or equivalent
- Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and research
- Experience with human subjects research or animal research administration
Salary Range: 65,000 - 75,000
