The VCU Clark-Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development is a university-level center that includes an interdisciplinary team of faculty from the Departments of Epidemiology and Community Health, Psychology, and Special Education and Disability Policy. The Institute’s activities include research; undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral training; and community engagement.

The Clark-Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development (CHI) is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to provide coordination and support for the Youth Advisory Council (YAC).

The Community Engagement Coordinator for the Clark-Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development (CHI):

  • Provides consistent coordination and support for the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) of CHI
  • Supports meeting coordination and logistics for the YAC (e.g., scheduling, reminders, space, and materials)
  • Assists with communication and engagement of youth participants
  • Helps to coordinate and connect relevant VCU and Richmond-based community resources to support YAC activities and youth-led projects
  • Provides general support during meetings (e.g., set-up, facilitation support, and transitions)
  • Assists with hosting and ensuring meetings feel organized, welcoming, and engaging for youth
  • Works with CHI faculty on YAC-related activities
  • Provides support for connecting CHI faculty members with community partners for research and service projects
  • Provides support for CHI faculty members in recruiting participants for research projects

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in working with youth in the context of participatory action initiatives for university-based centers and their community partners
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with youth and community partners
  • Experience in participant recruitment for community-based research projects for youth and adults

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Salary Range: $30 per hour

FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
