Duties & Responsibilities:
The VCU College of Engineering is seeking a skilled, collaborative, and customer focused IT Systems Analyst to support the technology needs of our vibrant academic community. This position plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the technology infrastructure that supports teaching, research, and administrative operations across the college. Working closely with students, faculty, and staff, the successful candidate will provide technical support, implement and maintain IT systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to technology initiatives that improve the college’s learning and working environment. From endpoint management and systems administration to infrastructure planning and strategic technology initiatives, your work will directly contribute to the success of a dynamic and growing engineering community.
Specific duties include:

Assist in the automation and management of endpoint deployments using Intune/MCM, JAMF, and PowerShell.

Configure and manage Microsoft Windows servers for printing and software licensing.

Trouble-shoot hardware and software problems on Windows and macOS systems, and replace disk drives, RAM, and internal adapter boards.

Configure and manage NAS storage systems.

Consult with faculty and staff on IT solutions and infrastructure planning.

Monitor the equipment and environment in the computer labs and fix issues.

Triage all incoming tickets from the RamsCentral ticketing system, help email and phone-in requests.

Develop documentation for systems and services provided to users

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Experience with Windows client software and macOS is required.

Knowledge of Intel, AMD and NVIDIA hardware is required.

Must have good hardware installation and troubleshooting skills.

Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., PowerShell) for automation and deployment.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, using sound judgment in a dynamic academic setting.

Must have very strong customer service skills.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications

College degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering or related field, or training and equivalent work experience at a level that equates to a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience with Windows Server and modern hypervisors is desired.

Experience with MCM/Intune for client deployment is preferred.

CompTIA, ISC2, or vendor-specific certifications are desired.

Previous working experience in an educational environment is desired.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000
