Unit: School Of Business MBU
Department: Center for Sport Leadership
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Center for Sport Leadership seeks a highly motivated and qualified Director of Student Services and Enrollment to provide support to our students, faculty and staff. This role will be the first point of contact for prospective students (marketing and recruitment), work with them through the entire admissions process (applicant processing and communication), and assist them on staying on track through graduation (curricular advising and support). In addition, the role will provide administrative support to the CSL team, a small, dynamic team focused on being adaptable and student focused.
Typical Responsibilities:
Admissions & Student Support (50%)

Coordinates receipt of prospective students’ applications and required documents.

Communicates with students regarding applications.

Distributes application materials to admission committee members.
-
Coordinates admissions interviews and decision processing.
-
Maintains documentation and files on pertinent day to day Center activities.

Prepares orientation packages to be distributed to incoming classes.
-
Responsible for the majority of communication with students throughout the admissions process.

Assure that graduating students have submitted a graduation application and other necessary paperwork.

Follow processing procedures with the Office of Graduate Studies and School of Business.

Working in and with several program management systems, including Slate and Banner.
Marketing & Recruitment (25%)
-
Coordinate recruitment and marketing efforts for programs at the Center (full-time, distance learning, dual degree)

Work with Communications Director on strategies and timelines for marketing and recruitment

Create marketing content for website and social media platforms
-
Host program information sessions throughout the year (online or in person)
Course Scheduling and Progress Toward Degree Completion (15%)
-
Serve as the first point of contact for course schedule changes for School of Business.

Follow up with School of Business Administration on any changes submitted.

Coordinate with faculty regarding class schedules, deadlines for course listings, and collection of course syllabi.

Provide enrollment services support to all students (on campus and online) in the Masters’ program.

Check student registration status before classes start and at the add/drop and withdraw deadlines.
-
Monitor all deadline dates for add/drop/withdrawals.
-
Process overrides as necessary.

Monitor deadlines and submit each semester's class schedules.
Office Administration (10%)

Greet and serve as the first point of contact for graduate students, parents, alumni, and any visitors to the Center.

Answer Center main telephone line and direct calls to appropriate faculty and staff; respond to day-to-day telephone, email, inquiry form, and in-person inquiries in a timely, accurate and pleasant manner.

Schedule and coordinate calendar and monitor email for Executive Director.

Provide scheduling support for meetings and events that impact the Center.

Maintain all current and alumni student files; perform routine office duties (filing, photocopying, sorting, delivering mail); accountability for student records; oversee mail and other correspondence to internal offices.

Frequent contacts with faculty, staff, University departments

Special event support.

Work on special projects and initiatives as needed to support the Center for Sport Leadership.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

A professional attitude and confidentiality is of the utmost importance in all interactions

Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.

Considerable administrative experience.

Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks by stated deadlines.

Knowledge of University organizations.

Excellent computer skills.

Must have a pleasant, positive and helpful service attitude which is enthusiastic and the ability to learn about the Center and its programs.

Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, and to know when to ask for information or assistance.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a University setting with students pursuing a degree in higher education or related field.

Knowledge of university protocols and organization.

Knowledge and experience in Canvas and Slate.
Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000

Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, and may require periodic weekend and evening hours. This position is in-person at the Center for Sport Leadership, located at 1300 West Broad Street in Richmond, VA.
