Woodshop Technician Assistant (Non Benefited) - Art Foundation Program - School of the Arts 

Job Description

 
The Art Foundation Program Woodshop Technician Assistant oversees all operations in the student woodshop when the Woodshop Technician is not working. This includes:
• Introductory woodshop equipment safety and operations training sessions.
• Demonstrating to students the proper use of the equipment in order for them to achieve the desired results for assignments.
• Monitoring the use of hand-held tools.
• Monitoring students’ safe use of the Woodshop’s power machinery that can only be operated by students who are supervised by trained staff.
• Special projects for the Art Foundation Program as requested by the Art Foundation administration

● Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Required Qualifications

BFA or equivalent professional, training and education.
Professional experience in Art & Design.
Extensive woodshop experience required.
Experience with woodworking, machinery and woodshop safety required.

Preferred Qualifications

MFA preferred.
Teaching experience preferred.
