About this Position

The Ferguson College of Agriculture is seeking a dynamic and student-centered professional to lead, coordinate, and implement comprehensive student development and retention strategies. This role is pivotal in fostering student learning, engagement, retention, and inclusion through the seamless integration of academic, career, and co-curricular experiences. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and departments across the college and university to ensure a supportive and enriching environment for all students.

Key responsibilities include enhancing existing programs such as first-year experience initiatives, the Freshman in Transition (FIT) living/learning community, the Academic on Track program, the Study and Snacks program, and support services for transfer students. Additionally, the role involves developing and launching new initiatives to address evolving student needs and promote academic and personal success.

This position serves as the college’s representative on university-wide committees and plays a key role in planning and coordinating welcome programs for new students. 

Collaboration is central to this role, with a strong emphasis on building effective partnerships with prospective student services, career development staff, academic departments, and other OSU units to ensure the success and alignment of all student development initiatives.

The position contributes to the strategic planning, development, and delivery of student services and academic support programs, working closely with the associate dean, assistant dean, and other college leaders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in the area of agriculture/ natural resources
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • 1 year experience, preferably in teaching, advising, counseling (adult or youth), leadership development

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Valid Driver's License

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Experience with personal computer applications such as Microsoft, Word, Excel and Access. Ability to quickly learn other data management and software systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in the area of agriculture/natural resources or student development
