About this Position
The Event Specialist serves as operations and event management facilitator with various responsibilities for designing, organizing, supporting, and executing events for CVM. This position provides supervision, direction, and training for the student workers.
This position should demonstrate strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills. It designs, implements, and evaluates procedures, policies, and practices to ensure accurate and thorough work, which also produces high levels of customer service. The Event Specialist will recommend and schedule events, including venue, catering, and attendee experience. The specialist is responsible for creating and processing registration, invoices and receipts. The specialist is responsible for promoting the events. The specialist is responsible for ensuring that relevant, accurate and thorough reports are produced. The specialist will actively recruit sponsors and exhibitors for events, and maintain a sponsorship database. The specialist may assist with both face-to-face and virtual events and preforms all other duties as assigned.
This position should expect seasonal changes in work hours. Operational hours change over the summer, breaks, and holidays. There will be occasional requirements to shift hours in order to meet the demand of meetings, events, or other activities. This position presents exposure to high pressure and stress related situations, as well as possible confrontation with guests. This position requires the use of proper ergonomics, heavy lifting, and the ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

High School/GED and four years of related experience
OR
Two years of post secondary education and two years of related experience.
Experience working with audio visual equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's
Ag Communications, business, hospitality, or related field

Six years customer service, exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience in managing full-time employees.
