About this Position
The Assistant Director of Human Resources supports the HR Director in planning, implementing, and overseeing all human resources operations. This role helps manage key HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and development, and compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates the Payroll, Benefits and Recruitment functions of the Human Resources department.
- Assists Director with employee relations and performance management.
- Coordinates information presentations for new employees, including insurance, retirement, and new-hire orientation information. Assists all employees with benefit questions or concerns. Ensures all benefits forms are submitted to Stillwater by deadlines.
- Acts as the campus Insurance Coordinator; schedules annual option-period meetings; stays up to date on system benefits changes.
- Coordinates the records regarding training including mandatory training status and attendance for campus training to be add to transcripts in TMS.
- Reviews unemployment claims and responds in a timely manner. Maintain files on claims status. Coordinates with supervisors and HR Director when claims are appealed.
- Receives worker’s comp claims and reports in a timely manner. Monitors progress of treatment; communicates with worker’s comp provider.
- Sends and collects FMLA letters and documentation to qualified employees. Tracks FMLA leave.
- In the absence of HR director, serves as lead.
- Complete all mandatory training and participate in a minimum of two professional development opportunities per year.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education:
Associate's (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Work Experience:
Minimum of four years experience in a Human Resources department, with specific experience in onboarding, recruitment, payroll processing, and/or employee relations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- High degree of integrity; ability to work in a sensitive, highly confidential, and professional environment.
- Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Accurate typing/data entry skills and demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
- Exhibit problem solving skills beyond a set of instructions and adapt to changes when necessary.
- Ability to make appropriate recommendations based on logical and justifiable reasoning.
- Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret written policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math functions.
- Experience and confidence speaking in front of students/customers.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or similar field.

Experience as a Benefits, Payroll, and/or Recruitment Coordinator.

Human Resources Certification such as SHRM-CP. SHRM- SCP, PHR, SPHR
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
- Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
- Duties require extensive use of computers, telephones and other office equipment.
- Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
