About this Position

Administration and Finance Business Operations (A&FBO) plays a critical role in shaping the future of the university by coordinating funding for capital projects that support academic excellence, research, and campus growth. Working closely with university leadership, academic units, departments, and the OSU Foundation, A&FBO ensures that capital projects are responsibly financed, accurately documented, and fully compliant with applicable regulations and University standards.

A&FBO also manages the university’s debt portfolio and supports debt issuance activities. This work requires thoughtful financial analysis, careful tracking of project expenditures, and the preparation of clear, accurate financial reports. The analyst will provide bookkeeping, tracking, and documentation of the financial status of university capital projects using data from multiple systems. This work will include simple forecasting of financing structures. The role supports informed decision-making by reviewing project finances prior to contract execution, assisting with funding commitments, and ensuring compliance for debt-funded projects. The position also provides support for debt issuance and ongoing compliance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Accounting, Finance, or related field, including accounting minors and accounting certificates.

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Zero-six months of related experience.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and function effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
    • Strong technical proficiency, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Preferred degree in accounting.

  • 1-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting. Experience using Banner Finance management software. Experience with governmental accounting.

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    CPA

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Working knowledge of fund accounting.
