About this Position

The Administrative Support Specialist for the Physics Department serves as the department’s first point of contact, ensuring a welcoming and helpful environment. Key duties include greeting visitors, answering calls, and providing general departmental information.

The role manages the department’s website, social media, and annual newsletter, and creates publicity materials for events. Responsibilities also include collecting and organizing semester syllabi, completing campus errands, maintaining office supplies, and handling mail and packages.

This position oversees textbook and key logs, maintains the checkin/checkout system, and prepares surplus/disposal information for CAS Business Operations. Additional duties include serving as the departmental PCard administrator, submitting OK Corral carts, and assisting with travel quotes, scheduling, and travel requests.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Admin Supp Spclt I: High school and 1 year of clerical/customer service experience.

    Admin Supp Spclt II: High school and 2 years of clerical/customer service experience.

    Admin Supp Spclt Sr: High school and 3 years of clerical/customer service experience.

    Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • 3 years clerical/customer service experience.
