About this Position

The Oklahoma State University Library Dean’s Office invites applications for an Accounting Specialist or Senior Accounting Specialist on our financial operations team. The selected applicant will report to the Sr. Manager of Fiscal Operations.

The Accounting Specialist supports multiple library subdepartments and three branch libraries. This support includes but is not limited to processing requests for purchases, following OSU Procurement Guidelines to make purchases using OK Corral or P-Card, processing invoices accordingly, submitting CVIs into AIRS, and processing OSU Foundation reimbursements and direct payments through Emberse. The Accounting Specialist will also coordinate all travel activity for OSU Library faculty and staff by following our internal process and submitting travel requests and reimbursements through AIRS.

Other primary responsibilities include but are not limited to data entry for tracking expenses, monthly expense reconciliations, assist with annual inventory reports, assist with document disposal, and assist any in-person patrons or guests of the Library Dean’s Office.  The Accounting Specialist will also prepare labor redistribution forms, P-Card correction forms, and Retroactive Cost Transfer forms, and supervise student assistants as needed.

The Accounting Specialist must be able to manage their time effectively, maintain organization of their assignments, and be customer service oriented. They must be able to work collaboratively on a team as well as independently and must be able to handle special projects when assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED

    HS/GED

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • HS/GED

    • Accounting Specialist: Two years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping.
    • Senior Accounting Specialist: Three years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping.

    Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices related to accounting/bookkeeping activities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to maintain confidential information
    • Must exercise initiative and independent judgment
    • Ability to handle several projects and tasks simultaneously, managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's
    • Bachelor's

    Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or another closely related field

    • At least one year of professional accounting or related finance experience.
